Florida's Jewish House votes to back Israel

Florida House shows support for Israel
By Josh Hafenbrack | Tallahassee Bureau
January 6, 2009

TALLAHASSEE - Led by South Florida Jewish legislators, the Florida House passed a resolution Monday expressing "solidarity" with Israel and its campaign against the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The resolution, approved by a unanimous voice vote on the first day of a budget-related special session in Tallahassee, called the Israeli military action in Gaza "an effort to defend its citizens as a moral duty against the unspeakable horrors of ongoing, indiscriminate terrorism" by Hamas.

"Because of the overwhelming Jewish community in Florida, I think it's important for the state to express its support," said House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, R- Boca Raton Click here for restaurant inspection reports, the sponsor.

Chavez: US backed Israeli Attack Is ‘Genocidal’

Venezuela’s Chavez Says Israeli Attack Is ‘Genocidal’ (Update1)
By Matthew Walter

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip are “genocidal” and called on governments around the world to demand a cease-fire in the Middle Eastern conflict.

Chavez said that Venezuela will show “solidarity” with the Palestinian people and that the U.S. is supporting the Israeli attacks on Gaza, in comments broadcast today on Venezuelan state television.

“How sad that Israel continues to act as the assassin arm of the Yankee empire,” the president said.

The South American country plans to collaborate with humanitarian efforts to send medicine and food to Palestine, Chavez said. Israeli warplanes bombed new Palestinian targets today and troops moved into the outskirts of Gaza City today, while at least 34 rockets from Gaza have struck Israeli territory since last night.

Chavez's heating oil for US needy ends

Venezuela’s Chavez Scraps U.S. Heating Oil Program (Update2)
By Steven Bodzin

Jan. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, under pressure to maintain domestic social programs as his country’s oil income falls, ended a three-year-old program that provided heating oil to low-income households in the U.S.

Citgo Petroleum, the U.S. refining unit of state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA, is suspending deliveries of the oil “until further notice,” Joseph P. Kennedy II, president of Citizens Energy Corp., said today on his company’s Web site. Boston-based Citizens Energy handled logistics for Citgo’s program and will keep providing below-market-rate oil to some customers, he said.

Gaza: Can Chavez do a power play?

Chavez shocked by US' Gaza reaction
Sun, 28 Dec 2008 06:32:42 GMT

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has questioned the United States' reaction to Israeli attacks on Gaza, calling Washington's response 'shocking.'

Israel's Saturday bombardment of Gaza left at least 230 dead and 800 wounded, making it the biggest such atrocity in 60 years of Israel-Palestine conflict.

Condemning Israel for its air raids on the tiny coastal region, Chavez said “The US is the only government compliant in the attacks.”

The remark came after Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, criticized the Hamas, saying Tel Aviv was defending its people.

Chavez described the Israeli raids as a “criminal” act which is meant to “annihilate the hope of life for an entire people,” AP reported.

He called for a “massive campaign of repudiation'' of Israeli atrocities.

Arabs vent anger at collaborating gov'ts

Outraged at Gaza, Arabs vent anger at governments
04 Jan 2009 17:23:57 GMT
Source: Reuters
By Tom Perry

BEIRUT, Jan 4 (Reuters) - Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip has inflamed sentiment across the Arab world against governments seen as doing little or nothing to stop the onslaught.

Many critics have gone further still, accusing some states of collaborating in the attack on the Palestinian enclave. From Cairo to Riyadh, the offensive illustrated the gulf between the policies of Arab rulers and the feelings of their citizens.

"Saudi Arabia and Egypt, both U.S. allies, have friendly ties with the Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas, whose Fatah faction was routed in fighting with Hamas in Gaza in 2007."

Not everyone can be a Rivero, or a Rense

I don't have much influence, but I am making an effort at Yahoo forums. I have quite a few, besides the ones shown below. I used to be brain-blind about Israel, too. I use my own graphics for impact, so they include a lot of info. I am currently using a graphic from rense. com, because it says so much. I don't know if it is really allowable, so it may not get to stay. I am ashamed of the lack of US Christian voices, but I know they are as generally brain-washed by US Zionist-dominated media as are US Jews themselves by their own media. Be glad, those who have been freed from gov/edu/media/church/synagogue propaganda bondage. Everyone is vulnerable to being seduced by slick, and continual mis-representation. And "they" never stop the attack!

"As The Forward reported on December 19, the in-coming Obama administration is receptive to JINSA demands. “In their first meeting with Jewish leaders Thursday, the Obama transition team proved that change is indeed on its way. For the first time in years, a full spectrum of Jewish groups sat around one table for a lengthy, detailed and civilized discussion about the future,” Nathan Guttman wrote. Representatives included the “hawkish ZOA and JINSA.” ZOA, short for the Zionist Organization of America, is specifically tasked with attacking critics of Israel nominated for important government positions and regularly ships off activists to Israel for leadership training programs."

“I would like to ask President-elect Obama to say something please about the humanitarian crisis that is being experienced right now by the people of Gaza.” Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney made her plea after disembarking from the badly damaged SS Dignity that had limped to the Lebanese port of Tyre while taking on water.

The small boat, carrying McKinney, the Green Party’s recent presidential candidate, other volunteers, and several tons of donated medical supplies, had been trying to reach the coast of Gaza when it was rammed by an Israeli gunboat in international waters.

Another Jewish swindler flees US to Israel

Candidate to con man
Deli owner in string of scams said to be living free in Israel
By Sara Burnett, Rocky Mountain News (Contact)
Published December 27, 2008 at 12:05 a.m.

Arnold Zaler stood before a federal magistrate judge on the morning of March 11, about to pull off one of his best scams yet.

The businessman known to most as "Arnie" was charged with 30 counts of bank and wire fraud for a scheme involving his kosher hot dog company and Denver's biggest sports venues.

If convicted, he faced more than 30 years in prison.

The judge, with no objection from prosecutors, set Zaler's bail at $25,000, unsecured. Zaler could go free without posting any money or property, but he had to agree not to leave the state of Colorado.

That same day Zaler turned over his passport and temporary travel documents issued by Israel, where he has told people he has dual citizenship.

Powerful JINSA in US: Iran is the problem

JINSA Accuses Iran of Facilitating Rocket Attacks on Israel
* Monday December 29, 2008, 4:23 pm EST

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs today accused Iran of facilitating Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.

“The role of Iran in the training and buildup of the Hamas arsenal has been regrettably overlooked by the world’s media and many of its political leaders,” said Tom Neumann, executive director of the Institute.

“Hamas’s rocket attacks have become longer range and more lethal as a result of Iranian assistance and training,” he said.

No country can remain on the sidelines while its towns and villages are subject to daily barrages of rockets, Neumann said. “Israel’s military response to the attacks came only after it had exhausted all other means.”

Amira Hass, Israeli journalist reports Gaza trauma

Israeli Journalist Decries Civilian Casualties in Gaza
By Greg Mitchell

NEW YORK (December 31, 2008) -- A powerful column appeared Tuesday in the Jerusalem daily Haaretz, written by one of its top correspondents, Amira Hass, reporting on Gaza, which opens: "This isn't the time to speak of ethics, but of precise intelligence. Whoever gave the instructions to send 100 of our planes, piloted by the best of our boys, to bomb and strafe enemy targets in Gaza is familiar with the many schools adjacent to those targets -- especially police stations. He also knew that at exactly 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, during the surprise assault on the enemy, all the children of the Strip would be in the streets - half just having finished the morning shift at school, the others en route to the afternoon shift."

FPA Statement 5 on the Gaza Strip Massacre

Consecutive Statements of the Free Palestine Alliance
A Tribute to Our Youth:
FPA Statement 5 on the Gaza Strip Massacre
December 31, 2008

This is the fifth in a series of statements the FPA is issuing daily on the ongoing Gaza massacre that has entered its fifth day. As of the time of writing this statement, at least 394 Palestinians have been murdered and more than 2,000 have been injured. The number of killed and injured continues to rise as the Zionist Israeli army persists in its savagery and more people are uncovered from under destroyed homes and neighborhoods.

The intense bombardment has been indiscriminate, targeting homes, markets, schools, neighborhoods, places of worship, along with administrative offices and government centers. Lest it is forgotten, these bombs are raining on the roofs and streets of a starved and besieged people, whose only lifeline and access to the world have been mere hand-made tunnels that have now been completely destroyed.

Israel 's Warships off Gaza coast, too

JERUSALEM - Israel's retaliation against persistent Hamas mortar and rocket attacks on civilians in southern Israel has been far more ferocious than anyone, including Hamas, expected.

The first few days of intensive Israel Air Force bombing in Gaza reduced hundreds of Hamas government buildings, military compounds, laboratories, metal workshops and supply tunnels to rubble and left more than 350 Palestinians, most of them militants, dead, according to UN and Hamas officials.

But as the air strikes continued and Israeli tanks massed on the Israel-Gaza border and Israeli warships lined up along Gaza's Mediterranean shoreline, it was not clear how much longer the operation would last or how its goals would be achieved.

Military recruiters having no trouble filling quotas. With jobs scarce, military recruiters are filling their quotas.

"In a crumbling economy, jobs disappear and opportunities fade. But one employer always has openings: the U.S. military.
Just four years after South Florida recruiters struggled to meet even half their quotas, the Army is exceeding enlistment goals by appealing to a wide range of candidates who see limited job options in the civilian world."
