SECRET plans to seize more than £4billion a year from Britain and make its citizens pay taxes direct to Europe emerged last night.

Amsterdam - The needles used to vaccinate people against swineflu are blunt, says familydoctor Jan Takken in the online version of Medical Contact.
"When you inject a patient, it gives a nasty, abrasive feeling", according to Takken in the professional journal.

At The National Familydoctors Association (LHV), a spokesperson confirms different needles are used than the regular ones used for the seasonal flu-vaccinations.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen said yesterday credit for the result rested with the Irish people who had shown a determination to be at the centre of Europe.

In a dramatic political U-turn, Ireland has voted decisively in favour of the Lisbon treaty just 16 months after it first rejected the European Union reform plan.

With counting continuing this evening it was expected that 64% of those who voted in Friday's referendum would have backed the treaty.

He pockets an annual salary of about £270,000 - slightly less than Mr Obama. He also receives an annual housing allowance of 15 per cent of his pay, around £40,390.

This would allow Mr Blair and his wife to add to their burgeoning property portfolio by picking a swish home in Brussels.

ADOLF Hitler may not have died in a bunker after fresh research suggests the skull thought to be the tyrant's was from a woman.

US archaeologist Nick Bellantoni found fragments from the skull believed to be Hitler's were too thin to be from a male, and suspected it was the remains of a much younger woman, The Sun reports.

Fewer Africans risk perilous journeys amid crisis, crackdown on immigrants

A woman stabbed to death in a German court was an Egyptian who had sued her attacker after he insulted her for wearing the Islamic headscarf, local newspapers reported on Friday.

Marwa Aal-Sherbini, 32, who was killed in a court in Dresden on Wednesday, was the wife of Egyptian academic Elwi Ali Okaz who was also hurt in the incident and is now in critical condition in hospital, the state-owned Al-Akhbar reported.

Britain’s credit card debt crisis will get significantly worse in the coming months with a wave of consumer payment defaults, the International Monetary Fund has warned.

The organisation expects £1.5bn of consumer debt across Europe will not be repaid, much of it in Britain which has the highest number of credit card borrowers on the continent.

Analysts say failure to pay credit card bills is likely to increase as unemployment rises and the number of personal insolvencies, which reached 29,774 in the first quarter of the year, continues to rise.

Yossi Levy, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman for the Hebrew media, said that while he was not willing to discuss intelligence reports, "there is no doubt that the European community now understands the urgent need to roll up their sleeves and keep Iran from acquiring nuclear military capabilities."

One senior government official who deals extensively with the issue attributed the "new spirit" in Europe to a realization that time was running out on the ability to keep Iran from attaining nuclear capabilities.

JERUSALEM – Israel warned the European Union on Thursday to tone down its criticism of the new Israeli government or risk forfeiting the bloc's role as broker in Mideast peace efforts.

The warning came after EU's commissioner for external relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, this week criticized Israel's refusal to endorse a Palestinian state. She said an upgrade in Israeli-EU relations would depend on Israel's commitment to the "two-state solution."

It also came ahead of a planned trip to Europe next week by Israel's foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman — his first official trip abroad. The ultranationalist Lieberman's comments about Arabs and Mideast peace have raised international concerns about the new Israeli Cabinet's intentions.

In the lower house of the Bundestag, German Foreign Minister and Vice-Chancellor Frank-Walter Steinmeier today called for the United States to remove its nuclear arsenal from German soil.
